Darwin Places of Worship

Chinese Temple
The Chinese have played a major role in the development of Darwin and the Chinese Temple is near the end of Woods Street. There is also a museum devoted to the history of the Chinese in Darwin.

Christ Church Cathedral
In the Esplanade is Christ Church Cathedral. The original was built in 1902, and in 1944 a porch was added, built by the armed forces using the stones of the old Post Office nearby, in memory of those who had lost their lives in the Territory during the war. Cyclone Tracy completely destroyed the Cathedral, except for this porch, which is incorporated in the new cathedral built in 1975.
